Description

The State Hall of the Austrian National Library - the former imperial court library - is considered the most beautiful library hall in the world. It was built from 1723 to 1726 under Emperor Charles VI. Today it is considered a baroque synthesis of the arts. Father and son Fischer von Erlach were the architects, and the magnificent ceiling frescoes are by Daniel Gran. In the State Hall there are about 200,000 books, as well as the private library of Prince Eugene. The State Hall offers a very exclusive setting for representative ceremonies, concerts or presentations.
