*13:00 Horário Brasília This wonderful and exciting Cello Concerto is a beautiful translation of what the Brazilian composer, Claudio Santoro (1919-1989), was experiencing during his life when he composed it. It was written in 1961 while he was living away from his children in Berlin during the construction of the Berlin Wall. Santoro also incorporated Brazilian rhythms like bossa nova, forró and a jazzistic vibe into the very intense set of emotions he was feeling during that time in this piece. I. Moderato (Improvisando-Candencia-Allegro) II. Lento III. Allegro Deciso Ma Molto Expressivo

A sardonic mix of the most evil music critiques of the last centuries written about some of the greatest works of music are presented in The Music Critic, narrated by John Malkovich. One of the most prestigious venues in the world, Vienna Konzerthaus, togs its main stage up into a legendary Viennese Coffee House setting, representing the tradition where poets, writers, critics and common people often gather to complain about any various thing, sometimes even if they are on their own. Sipping his coffee, John Malkovich slips into the role of the evil critic, equipped with a frivolous potpourri of musical insults. Schumann fancies himself a „composer“, while Brahms is a „giftless bastard“. Claude Debussy is „simply ugly“. Narrated by, John Malkovich Performed by, Aleksey Igudesman, So-Ock Kim, Max Baillie, Tanja Tetzlaff, Hyung-ki Joo Music by Mozart, Beethoven, Chopin, Dvorak, Brahms, Schumann, Debussy, Kanchelli, Piazzolla and Igudesman.

Robin Ticciati and the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin recorded a programme that “struggles with the devil”: At the Haus des Rundfunks Berlin the orchestra performes Martinů's one-act opera “Slzy Nože” (‘The Tears of the Knife’) as well as Ondrej Adámek's “Sinuous Voices”. Martinů's satirical comedy, in which erotic desire and Satan both play a significant role, features a top-class cast including soprano Kateřina Kněžíková, contralto Markéta Cukrová and baritone Lucia Lucas. Together with Paul Hindemiths “Sancta Susanna”, recorded in April 2012 and conducted by renowned Hans Graf, both recordings form the programme “Struggle with the Devil”- which can now be seen on the screen. The video installations are designed by Ergo Phizmiz, one of the most productive artists in the world. EP is impossible to box into one particular genre of art. His work is beautiful, bewitching, bewildering and at times terrifying. Over the past decade he has created a body of work of hundreds of hours across theatre, song writing, text, electronic music, collage exhibitions, installations, opera, video, and radio plays that has constantly defied categorisation and been performed or broadcast all over the world.

Following a highly successful small-group jazz concert at New York Town Hall on May 17, 1947, Armstrong's manager Joe Glaser dissolved the Armstrong big band on August 13, 1947 and established a six-piece small group. This group was called the All Stars, and in 1964 Louis Armstrong recorded his biggest-selling record, Hello, Dolly! He made assorted televison appearances, especially in the 1950s and 1960s – the recorded film was a TV Show in Australia when Armstrong was at the peak of his career. Armstrong kept up his busy tour schedule until a few years before his death in 1971. He also toured Africa, Europe, and Asia under sponsorship of the US State Department with great success, earning the nickname “Ambassador Satch”.
