VICTORIA FREIJA was born to a Swedish father and Czech mother and spent the first childhood years in Haga, Gothenburg, an area known for its artistry and tight-knit community, until the family separated and she further moved to Prague, Czechia. When a Danish national TV contacted her in November 2023 to film a documentary about her and her relatives, it became a catalyst for Victoria to rediscover the real story of her Nordic family, reconnecting with family members she had not met before, but also grieving what she never had - a family, a father, and a strong male role model. Coming to terms with the memories of her past, she has started piecing together what connects her to her inheritance, marked especially in her musical talent and free-spiritedness. Victoria Freija’s music tells a story of homecoming and belonging to several homes. Taking inspiration from others, she looks to strong female artists such as Alicia Keys, Tori Kelly or Aurora and takes in influences from gospel music or the likes of Bon Iver, Kings of Convenience or BOY. Her original music is co-written with her pianist Jakub Šajben and her mentor lyricist and singer Aryn Michelle. All her lyrics are inspired by her czech-swedish-danish roots and her pursuit of faith and flourishing. In 2025, Victoria is not only recording her original debut, but also works with a Danish recording studio Lundgaard Studios to record new music locally. During autumn 2024 you could hear her colourful music at the Dejvické divadlo Cafe or at the Take care festival in Prague.
