Hyunsuk Ryu, a young and talented violinist from South Korea, was born in 2013 and began playing the violin at the age of six. Despite his young age, he has already gained international recognition through numerous prestigious competitions. In 2021, he won 1st Prize at the Nanpa National Music Competition, marking the beginning of his success in major competitions. The following year, in 2022, he achieved the Grand Prize at the Strad Competition, earning an invitation for a solo recital at Seoul Arts Center’s Inchoon Art Hall. He also received the Grand Prize at the Hankook Ilbo Music Competition. In 2023, his international career expanded as he was awarded a Special Prize at the Osaka International Music Competition and was selected as a scholarship recipient for the Łańcut Music Festival in Poland. He also received the Young Artist Award at the Paris Music Forum. His success continued into 2024 with top prizes at multiple international competitions. He won 1st Prize and the Audience Award at the Piccolo Violino Magico International Violin Competition, 2nd Prize at the Ysaÿe International Music Competition, 2nd Prize at the Leonid Kogan International Violin Competition, and 1st Prize at the Małopolska International Music Competition. In late 2024, he held a Kumho Prodigy Recital at Kumho Art Hall, further establishing his presence as a promising young musician. Hyunsuk has refined his artistry through masterclasses with renowned musicians, including Maxim Vengerov, Peter Schuhmayer, Pavel Vernikov, Svetlana Makarova, Liviu Prunaru, David Kim, Ian Swensen, Ioana Cristina Goicea, Anna Gutowska, Kazuki Sawa, Masafumi Hori, Asako Urushihara, Lee Mi-Kyung, Yang Sung-Sik, Yoon So-Young, Kim Soo-Bin, Jung Sang-Hee, Bae Won-Hee, and Kim Gye-Hee. He currently studies under Professor Sunny Lee in Seoul Central Conservatory(SCC) and continues to develop his musical career as one of the most promising young violinists of his generation.
