Biography

https://pianopete.weebly.com/epk.html#/ Peter Favilla – Pianist, Composer, Educator, Producer Born in Baltimore, Maryland, and raised in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, Peter Favilla began his lifelong relationship with music at just two years old, teaching himself piano and composing original works. By age eight, he began formal lessons, and by thirteen, he had his first public performance—presenting his own compositions to a live audience. Favilla earned a bachelor’s degree in Music with a concentration in Piano Performance from Penn State University in 2016. Following graduation, he moved to New Jersey and eventually settled in New York City, where his multifaceted musical career blossomed. From 2019 to 2023, he served as Music Director at the historic Morristown First Baptist Church, where he led both contemporary and traditional services while continuing to compose and perform. His original suite Ghosts, premiered in 2018 at Drew University in Madison, NJ, marked a pivotal moment in his compositional journey. The piece earned him a semifinalist spot in the prestigious 27th World Music Competition in Vienna, Austria, spotlighting his evolving voice as a composer. The following year, he directed, produced, and starred in a sold-out theatrical performance of Pink Floyd’s The Wall at the Bickford Theater, merging his classical training with rock and multimedia artistry. Favilla has performed extensively across the United States, with appearances in cities including New York, Nashville, Los Angeles, San Diego, Salt Lake City, and Missoula. Internationally, he has performed in Greece, Cyprus, Canada, Germany, and most recently Colombia, South America—further expanding his artistic reach and cultural collaborations. From 2022 to 2024, he was a featured performer, educator, and partner at Musikfest in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania—one of the nation’s largest non-gated music festivals—where he connected with thousands through live performance and community engagement. In 2023, Favilla co-founded Echoland Studios, a creative hub for music production, recording, video, and rehearsals. Originally based in Brooklyn, Echoland relocated to Times Square in 2024 and now serves a growing roster of artists and educators across disciplines. Among his most unique honors, Favilla recorded several of Keith Emerson’s original compositions on Emerson’s own Steinway Model D piano at the Electronic Music Education and Preservation Project (EMEAPP) in Philadelphia, PA. This tribute was part of the Keith Emerson 80th Birthday Celebration, organized by EMEAPP, an institution dedicated to preserving legendary music technology and equipment used by artists such as Chick Corea, Pink Floyd, Queen, Frank Zappa, Genesis, Parliament Funkadelic, and many others. Favilla also continues to collaborate on projects that bridge music and storytelling. In 2024, he released his debut album of original piano works, blending classical, cinematic, jazz, and experimental influences. That same year, he embarked on a national tour with Dr. Marissa Guarriello, performing original music he composed for her children’s book Onward and Upward, which promotes emotional growth, resilience, and imagination. Whether through live performance, studio work, or education, Favilla remains deeply committed to music as a tool for connection and expression. He believes that everyone should have access to music, regardless of background or ability, and continues to mentor students of all ages through private instruction, group classes, and community programming. His work spans genres and generations, always guided by the belief that music is a language that speaks directly to the human spirit.
