Hyeongji Choi is a South Korean pianist, entrepreneur, and educator recognized for her
passion and vibrant artistry. She is currently pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Piano
Performance at Arizona State University (ASU) under the mentorship of Dr. Baruch Meir, where
she also serves as a Faculty Associate. She earned her Master of Music degree at ASU in
2021, supported by the School of Music Special Talent Award, and received the GPSA Teaching
Excellence Award for her innovative approach to pedagogy.
An active performer, Choi has appeared on renowned stages including Carnegie Weill Recital
Hall, Van Cliburn Concert Hall, and Tempe Center for the Arts. Her artistry has been recognized
with numerous accolades, including the Best Performance of a Work by a BIPOC or Female
Composer Special Award at the 11th Bösendorfer USASU International Competition, as well as
distinction as a finalist in the National MTNA Piano Competition.
Passionate about engaging diverse audiences, Choi creates multisensory concert
experiences—such as performances that pair piano repertoire with poetry and wine
tastings—designed to make classical music more accessible and engaging. She is the founder
of ASU’s Artist Entrepreneurship Club and is completing a Certificate in Entrepreneurship,
reflecting her vision of uniting artistry, education, and community.
