Biography

Tymur Melnyk (Austria/Ukraine) is regularly performing as a soloist and chamber musician across Europe, Canada, Japan, Russia and China, with several appearances on the Austrian, Serbian, Italian, Swiss and Russian Radio and Television. He is a Prize-Winner of numerous Competitions, among others the Fritz Kreisler International Violin Competition in Vienna, Johannes Brahms International Music Competition in Austria, Osaka International Music Competition in Japan (winner among 800 contestants). He currently works as violin professor at Prayner Conservatory for Music and dramatic Artis in Vienna and has furthermore gathered teaching experience as Assistant of Prof. P. Vernikov at the Lausanne Music Conservatory Sion in Switzerland. Tymur Melnyk is also regularly giving numerous international master classes in Italy, China, Russia, Serbia and Switzerland. His debut-CD “Tymur” was published by Label “Querstand”, Germany and was consequentially followed by “Reflections” and “Souvenirs” albums on the Label “Vienna Music Records”. Tymur Melnyk started to play violin at the age of 6 with Prof. H.Melnyk as his teacher, graduated with a Master degree cum laude from the University of Music and performing Arts in Vienna under the guidance of Prof. M.Frischenschlager and was awarded a honorary prize from the Austrian Ministry of Culture as an exemplary musician. He continued to gather additional artistic impulses from Maestro V.Spivakov , Prof. Z.Bron, Maestro H Beyerle, Prof. E.Chougaeva. Tymur Melnyk is the founding member of the CIMA - Central International Music Academy in Vienna and the CIMA Chamber Orchestra in Shenzhen, China and a member of ESTA - European String Teachers Association. In the year 2008 Tymur Melnyk received the Austrian citizenship due to his extraordinary artistic activities. Tymur Melnyk is playing on an antique Italian violin by Vincenzo Ventapane from the year 1770, on honorary loan to him by the Austrian National Bank.
