Born in Stuttgart, Germany, Angelika Strub grew up in a musical family and started to play the violin at the age of five. During her adolescent years she won various prizes at national competitions and in 2009 Angelika was awarded several scholarships to join the Pre- Conservatory class of Prof. Sally O’Reilly at the University of Minnesota, USA. Thus, she moved abroad at the age of 16 to complete her high school education at Shattuck St. Mary’s School while pursuing her musical aspirations. Afterwards Angelika continued her studies at the University of Minnesota and completed a Bachelor’s degree in Violin Performance with academic distinction in 2015.
During her time in the United States, Angelika won several competitions, participated in numerous international masterclasses and appeared as the soloist of different orchestras, as well.
Upon her return to Europe, Angelika continued her education with a Master’s degree at the University Mozarteum Salzburg with Prof. Esther Hoppe and started to work as a substitute player for Mozarteum Orchestra Salzburg, as well as Camerata Salzburg. Through her orchestral work she was able to work with artists like Jonas Kaufmann, Placido Domingo, Anna Netrebko, Lisa Batiashvili, as well as performing at the Salzburg Festival.
She is currently living in Salzburg, Austria and is playing an Italian Violin from 1689.
