Always willing to live new experiences, Spanish-born saxophonist Martín Castro has played more than one hundred concerts in world-renowned venues such as Prince Mahidol Hall, Piotr Tchaikovsky National Academy of Ukraine, Musik und Kunst Privatuniversität Wien, Aksra Theatre King Power, National Cuban Theatre, Central Conservatory of Music Beijing and Fundacion Juan March. His musical activity has taken him to countries like China, Austria, Germany, The Netherlands, France, Portugal, Spain, Ukraine, Singapore, Thailand, Sri Lanka, Brazil, Argentina, Cuba and Colombia.

Based in Vienna, Martín graduated from the "Conservatori Superior de Música de les Illes Balears". In this moment he is continuing his studies in the "Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Wien" with Michaela Reingruber and Barbara Strack-Hanisch. Additionally, he has also taken masterclasses with artists such as François Guye, Jean-Marie Londeix, Thomas Indermhüle, Timothy McAllister, Lars Mlekusch, Daniel Gauthier and Marie-Bernadette Charrier, to name a few.

Some of his highlights include two concerts as soloist playing music from Cristóbal Halffter with the Orquesta del Lyceum de la Habana directed by Jose A. Mendez and the Orquesta Sinfónica Nacional de Cuba directed by Lars Mlekusch.

As a founding member of PSAIKO Quartet, Martín has won prestigious competitions including the 88 Concurso Juventudes Musicales de EspañaThailand International Wind Symphony Competition, "ArtJove Musica de Cámara", International Music Competition Opus 2019 and a Silver Medal in the 1st Vienna International Competition. The quartet has been invited to festivals such as Kultursommer Nordhessen, Festival Jong Talent Schiermonnikoog, Two Days and Two Nights Odessa, Singapore Saxophone Symposium, Prima la Musica Wien, III Festival Internacional Bellas Artes Cali and Mallorca Saxophone Festival.

Individually, he has also won the Leonard Bernstein-Institutswettbewerb and the 22. Osaka International Competition Semifinal in Vienna.

Martín Castro has given saxophone and chamber music masterclasses at the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro and the Conservatorio de Musica Luis Gianneo. He has also been one of the juries in the "2018 Hunan Wind Instrument Competition", "I Concurso Latinoamericano de Cuarteto de Saxofones" and "ArtJove 2019".

Committed to the new music, he has worked with composers such as Gabriel Erkoreka, Ramon Lazkano, Felix Ibarrondo, Simone Movio, Volodymyr Runchak, Anton Alcalde, Javier Girotto, Aaron Siebert, Donald Yu and Antonio Lauzurika.
