Su-hyeon Beak, who won 1st prize at the 2023 Arthur Grumiaux International Violin Competition, began playing the violin at the age of six. Subsequently, she achieved numerous awards in domestic competitions, including 1st prize at the Music Education News concours, Gold Prize at The Hankook Children's Daily Music Competition, 1st prize at the Music Chun-chu Competition, 1st prize at the Journal of Music concours, 2nd prize at the Strad Competition of Korea, 2nd prize at the Dong-A Junior Music Competition, and 1st prize at the Ehwa and Kyunghyang concours. Internationally, she has also received recognition, including 2nd prize at the 2022 Leonid Kogan International Competition, 1st prize at the 2023 Arthur Grumiaux International Violin Competition, and the IMA Award at the Ishikawa Music Academy Music Camp in 2024. In 2022, she passed the Kumho Prodigy Audition and successfully held her Kumho Prodigy Recital in 2024. From 2021 to 2024, she was part of the Korea National Institute for the Gifted in Arts, where she studied under Kim Nam-yun and Kim Sung-sook. Since 2025, she has been studying under Sunny Lee at the Seoul Central Conservatory. Currently, Su-hyeon Baek is using a Pietro Guarneri violin made in 1717 through the sponsorship of the Kumho Petrochemical Group.
