Third Prize Winner of the American Protégé International Music Competitio, Opal Eleonora Thompson started playing piano at age six under the instruction of Dr. Yoojung Kim. As a soloist and chamber musician, she has performed at venues including the Marc A. Scorca Hall at the National Opera America Center, the Ann Goodman Recital Hall at Kaufman Music Center, the Liederkranz Foundation, the Dimenna Center, Tenri Cultural Institute, and recently made her Carnegie Hall debut in March, 2019. She also gave a solo recital at Steinway Hall in New York City in 2017. She is involved in acting and has performed the role of Babette the feather duster in Beauty and the Beast at the Gateway Theatre in Bellport, New York. Opal is currently a 6th grader at New Canaan Country School in Connecticut. Besides playing piano, Opal’s favorite hobbies include playing flute, reading, sailing, swimming and roller skating.
