   Venezuelan-American cellist, Edward Luengo, is beginning to establish himself as soloist and chamber musician performing in North America and Europe. Born in Miami, Florida, he began his studies at the International School of Music with Maria Antonieta Salas and later with Aaron Merritt at the New World School of the Arts.
   In 2016, Mr. Luengo gave his concerto debut with the Master Sinfonia Chamber Orchestra performing William Walton’s Cello Concerto. He was selected as a semi-finalist and Honorable Mention for the 20th Annual Sphinx Competition, recipient of the First Prize at the Coltman Chamber Music Competition, Third Prize of the IX Carlos Prieto International Cello Competition, and most recently was awarded 1st Prize at the Spanish Concurso Jóvenes Intérpretes offering support to study abroad by the Fundación María Paula Alonso. He has attended the Orford Academy, National Arts Centre | Young Artists Program 2017, Domaine Forget, Festival Ravel, Kronberg Academy Masterclasses and Festival MusicAlp. Mr. Luengo has been fortunate to participate in masterclasses and collaborate with distinguished artists and ensembles including Colin Carr, Walter Delahunt, Thomas Demenga, Leon Fleisher, Steven Isserlis, Ian Swensen, Shai Wosner, members of the Borromeo Quartet, Danish String Quartet, New Orford String Quartet, Telegraph String Quartet and Takács String Quartet.
   Mr. Luengo’s principal teachers are Jean-Michel Fonteneau and Philippe Muller, with whom he currently studies at the Manhattan School of Music. Some of his greatest influences include artists such as Emmanuelle Bertrand, Frans Helmerson, Hans Jørgen Jensen, Laurence Lesser, Julia Lichten, Johannes Moser, Jérôme Pernoo, Heasook Rhee, Miguel Da Silva, and Michel Strauss among others.
   Mr. Luengo enjoys performing on a cello by award-winning violinmaker Andrew Carruthers, completed in 2016.
